Nissan GT-R —best sports car of 2009

Supercar Nissan GT-R completing its collection of awards with another honorary title became winner in the nomination of “The best sports car of the year”. Results of the international contest “Car of the year” were declared in the International Auto Show in New York (NYIAS-2009).

“The best sports car of the year” is one of the prestigious awards of Nissan GT-R – 56 jury members from 25 countries choosing it from the list of 23 sports cars, including Porsche 911 Carrera and Corvette ZR1, found it to be worthy of the title “The best sports car of the year”.
 
According to the international jury Nissan GT-R “outshined” all its competitors this year. Supercar GT-R has been equipped with twin-turbo V6 of 3,8 liter power, 480 horsepower and 583 torque. The unique wheels specially developed for this car allow the supercar GT-R to carry out all opportunities of all-wheel drive chassis, especially on race track. It can reach a speed of 100 km/h in 3,6 seconds.
 
With appearance of R35 Nissan GT-R body Nissan demonstrates its intension of being the favorite of sport track and using its performance capabilities as much as possible. Very likely, this is the best sports car in the world in its price bracket.
 

 

Kumho creates laser technology for tread pattern application

Firstly, aromatized tires were created and then coloured smoke. Now Kumho Tire develops a laser technology which, allegedly, makes it possible to cut tread pattern by means of laser.

 
According to Roger Jenkins, a director of the Technical Center of Kumho in Birmingham, the new laser technology gives much more freedom to developers at the stage of design and experimentation; in the future it will facilitate production of specialized tires including the tires for motor vehicles or surfaces with low friction coefficient. Information on new developments of Kumho was issued on the occasion of the opening of the International Automobile Sales Centre in Frankfurt on the nearest weekend.
 
Kumho is intended to form its tread patterns by usual method and then to add different elemenrs of pattern by means of laser technologies. Laser is used in tire production sector for several years but since they could create only very shallow patterns so far their application was limited by application identification code to the side wall of tire.
 

 

Kumho carries on its successful participation in Formula 3 race

Valtteri Bottas, a Finnish racer, won traditional Masters of Formula 3 that took place on 13-14 June. All tyres used in the racing were supplied by Kumho Tyres: the company has provided about one thousand tyres within the program of financing of the race series.

The company produced a batch of specially designed tyres differing from those that are used in F3 Euro Series. All racing cars had the ECSTA tyres 180/550R13 and 240/570R13 in size; depending on weather conditions there are S700 slicks available for dry weather and W700 tyres for rainy weather.
 
The company is an official tyres supplier for Masters of Formula 3 till the end of 2011; moreover, Kumho is an official tyres supplier for F3 Euro Series.

Peugeot 407 the most powerful car of the concern

Ford C-Max will be manufactured in Spain

European department of Ford Motors company is planning to transfer manufacture of Ford C-Max model from Sarluis plant in Germany to Valencia plant in Spain. Currently, this plant produces Ford Focus model. Besides, Sarluis plant will start manufacture of new generation Focus. С-Мах, manufactured in Valencia, is intended for sale not only in the European market but all over the world.

Ford informed about new generation engines

Representatives of Ford gave more detailed information about diesel engine with the capacity of 1.6 liters known as EcoBoost. The engine will be manufactured in three variants. The prototype will have the strength of 130 horsepower. Besides, there will be made modifications to 150 and 180 horsepower. Along with engine power it will differ by comparatively less fuel consumption. EcoBoost will consume 20% less petrol in comparison with the previous aggregates of similar power. The first model equipped with the engine will be new generation C-Max. The concept of the car was presented in March of the current year in Geneva automobile show.
